OH Volleyball Shuts Downs Palm Beach Lakes 3-0

The Olympic Heights Girls Volleyball team captured its first win of the season Tuesday, Aug. 22, with a 3-0 victory over the Palm Beach Lakes Rams. After a bit of a shaky start in game one, the Lions pulled ahead 21 – 12 after 9 straight aces by senior captain Jackie O’Neill.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Cunningham secured the win in game one with three straight aces to help the Lions to a 25-12 victory. Cunningham continued to lead the team in serves with 11 aces in game two, while Peri Spector chipped in with two kills in the 25-12 win.

Spector carried the momentum into game three with 12 straight points including 9 aces to take a 21-8 lead. Cunningham closed out the game serving the last three points in the 25-10 victory in game three for the Lions.

The team is now 1-1 on the season after a season-opening 0-3 loss to ranked West Boca on Monday, Aug. 21. The next game is at home on Thursday, Aug. 24, against Somerset Canyons. Junior varsity plays at 6:00 p.m. with the varsity game at 7:00 p.m.
