OH Golfer Brooks Lambs Advances to State Championship Tournament; Team Misses Cut by Two Strokes

Olympic Heights golfer Brooks Lamb shot a a three-over par 74 at the Region 7-3A Championship Tournament on Monday, Oct. 23, at Jacaranda Country Club in Plantation, Fla, good enough to qualify as an individual competitor at the FHSAA 3A State Championship Tournament to be played at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on Nov. 3 and 4.

The OH team carded a team score of 309, coming in third at the regional championship, finishing only two strokes out of the second place finish needed to secure a trip to the state championship for the entire team.  The top two teams from each regional tournament and the the top two individual players not on a team advancing to the state tournament qualify for the state championship tournament.

Host team St. Thomas Acquinas won the Region 7-3A Championship with a score of 300. Boca Raton High came in second with a 307, Olympics Heights finished third with a 309, and Spanish River finished fourth with a 313. In all, eight teams competed at the regional tournament.

Lamb’s 74 earned him the second spot for individual low score from a non-advancing team, finishing one stroke behind Spanish River’s Luke Gifford’s 73.

The scores for the rest of the OH team were Justin Cao with a five-over par 76, Oliver Kiely with a eight-over par 79, Matthew Hicks with a nine-over par 80, and Christian Ayala with a 19-over par 90.
