OH Drama Troupe Shines at State Competition

The Olympic Heights theatre students “tore up the competition” at the State Drama Competition held in Tampa the week prior to Spring Break exclaims drama instructor Ms. Kimberly Coyle.

Out of the six pieces the troupe took to compete, they received three Superiors and three Excellents. Two of the Superiors won Critic’s Choice Awards – meaning they were recognized as the best pieces in the entire state of Florida. A complete list of OH award winners is below.

The OH troupe took home the most Critic’s Choice Awards out of their district with only one other district school (American Heritage) receiving a Critic’s Choice Award.ne and no other school in our district received a Critic’s Choice). The OH students were also given the opportunity to see phenomenal productions, network and workshop with theatrical professionals such as Laura Bell Bundy and Travis Kent.

The OH troupe can be seen in action in just a matter of weeks when they stage the musical Anything Goes with music and lyrics by Cole Porter on April 20, 21, and 22. The show will feature lots of tap dancing and pure entertainment and a cameo by science teacher Ms. Sarah Rew.
