Both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X will keep their respective fan bases loyal.

With the launch of the new Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, people have been quick to argue over which is better. The Xbox released at a $500 price tag, while the PS5 released two versions, one with a disk player for $500 and one without it for $400. However, finding the consoles for this price is almost impossible right now as both are in such high demand and retailers can’t seem to keep them in stock. The resell price for the PS5 is upwards of $1,000 and the Xbox is reselling for around $800.

In terms of hard drive space, the Xbox has about 800 GB of storage data, which is higher than the PS5’s 670 GB hard drive space. Both have more than enough space for the average person to have more than a couple of games downloaded, but the Xbox edges the PS5 with that 130 GB of extra free space.

When comparing each console’s power, the Xbox again slightly edges the PS5 but not to the point where the average consumer can differentiate the two. There are certain games that the Xbox runs better than the PS5 and there are certain games that the PS5 will run better than the Xbox, but we have seen that ever since the very beginning of this console war.

The PS5 has a strong advantage over the Xbox when it comes to the controller. The PS5 has a reinvented controller with completely changed features and a whole new look. The PS5’s controller with Its new Haptic feedback built into the controller makes users feel like they’re really in the game by using a number of techniques that cause the controller to interact with the user’s hands which causes the brain to feel more connected to the game.

Xbox has simply copied and pasted their old controller while adding a share button and slightly changing their “D-pad,” which doesn’t have many fans happy. Olympic Heights sophomore Pedro Moreira comments, “The Xbox controller has always been slick but the way the PS5 completely shocked everyone with their new controller is simply unbeatable.”

The PS5 has another huge advantage in terms of exclusive games. The PS5 is launching the long-awaited new Spiderman game: Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This game alone has generated more hype than the most popular Xbox exclusive games: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Destiny 2: Beyond Light. Xbox is expected to release some more exclusive games, but that probably still won’t be enough to compete with PS5.

At the end of the day, there is no better console. Both consoles measure up equally for the most part, so it all comes down to personal preference. Generally, past PS3 and PS4 players won’t switch over to the Xbox Series X, and Xbox 360 Xbox One users won’t be switching sides to the PS5.

Regardless, whichever system gamers are more comfortable with, neither of these two new consoles will disappoint.
