TikTok influencers Charli and Dixie Damelio angered many followers by hypocritically traveling for a vacation during the pandemic.

Social media influencers Charli D’Amelio, Dixie D’Amelio, Chase Hudson, Avani Gregg, Noah Beck, and Madi Monroe have all been spotted traveling during the coronavirus pandemic. These TikTok influencers have been seen in the Bahamas, far from their homes in California, and people are not happy about it.

The influencers are getting criticized for traveling during the pandemic, thereby setting a bad example for those they are allegedly influencing.

As of late January, the state of California has had a total of 2.59 million confirmed coronavirus cases and more than 28,000 deaths. Roughly 870,000 of those cases are from their home city of Los Angeles. There have been a total of 21.7 million cases across the country, with the number of deaths soaring over 400,000.

Erica Tempesta of the Daily Mail newspaper explained the situation: “Charli and Dixie D’Amelio have come under fire yet again after taking a private jet to the Bahamas with friends amid the pandemic, but Dixie’s boyfriend Noah Beck has defended their trip, claiming they ‘needed to get away from it all.’”

The D’Amelio sisters joined Beck, Hudson, Monroe, and others at the Atlantis resort in Nassau last week, as California became the first state to record more than two million confirmed coronavirus cases. Charli, 16, and Dixie, 19, never shared they were going on the trip, nor did their friends, but the news they were in the Bahamas spread like wildfire after they were spotted by fans, with some even sharing pictures of themselves posing with the influencers.

The influencers also posted TikTok videos during their trip. “Noah, 19, also shared a few TikTok videos of himself with Dixie in what appeared to be a hotel room at the time of their trip,” Tempesta added. “The backlash has been swift, with critics slamming the TikTok stars – particularly Charli and Dixie – for irresponsibly going on a group vacation during the pandemic.”

Tempesta adds that Charli was called out for being a hypocrite by a Twitter user who pointer that TikTok’s most-followed star had just posted on Instagram Live a video where she talks about the importance of staying home and social distancing. “If you’re using this time to hang out with your friends since you don’t have school, please, I’m asking you, please stop being so inconsiderate to others,” Charli said in the Instagram Live video on Dec. 29. Days later, the news of her trip went viral.

So why are people so u[set with the influencers? Well, traveling anywhere right now is a big risk and it is recommended to only travel if vitally necessary. The TikTok influencers did not need to travel to the Bahamas, so they are just risking their own health and the health of the people around them. Besides that, Charli D’Amelio, who has the most fans on TikTok, ignored the entire situation and never addressed it, making a lot of people even angrier. Charli also has millions of young, impressionable fans, and many now label her as a “bad influence” for these young kids.

All in all, the TikTok stars have clearly upset many fans and some have yet to own up to their actions. Hopefully, they will be more careful and cautious in terms of the example they set for their many young followers going forward.
