American singer/actress Miley Cyrus has been in the spotlight for most of her life and in recent years has focused mainly on her music career. Her latest studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, released in early March has exceeded many fans’ expectations. 

The song “Flowers” from the new album skyrocketed on the charts and was trending all over social media. The music video for “Flowers”gained over three hundred million views on YouTube and has become one of Cyrus’ most popular videos. 

“I love the song “Flowers”; it’s been trending on TikTok, and I’ve been obsessed. Such a vibe!” Olympic Heights senior Audrie Mahoney remarks. The song is quickly becoming one of Cyrus’s most popular releases, OH junior Savannah Ross adds, “Miley Cyrus is such a girl boss and my favorite song from the new album is ‘Flowers.’”  

Cyrus is known for experimenting with her music, trying different styles, sounds, and visuals. One of her previous albums, Plastic Hearts, was released with pop and rock music influences. The new album goes for a much more lighthearted and fun vibe, being influenced solely by the genres of pop and dance-pop.

The songs on Endless Summer Vacation fit with the title of the album, being very fun and mostly upbeat. Songs such as “Wildcard” and “Island” give the album a relaxing, enjoyable sound similar to what being on summer vacation feels like. However she also shows off her unique and powerful vocals through some emotional and lyrical songs such as “Jaded” and “River.”

Fans and viewers have seen Cyrus grow and evolve throughout her career. Since her time on the Disney Channel, she has created a significantly different image of herself and has used her songs and music videos to showcase her talent, creativity, and uniqueness. 

“I think that with this album she has clearly come a long way from her disney channel days,” OH sophomore Lily Ames comments. 

Many feel Cyrus has matured greatly throughout the years and has become a much stronger singer and performer. Some of her past albums have had mixed reviews and opinions; however, it is clear that the majority of listeners enjoy and applaud her new work. There are even those who claim Endless Summer Vacation is her best album yet. 

Cyrus has had a rollercoaster of a career and has been talked about – both positively and negatively – throughout the years. It is clear that with her new music, she is making a breakthrough in the media and is showing the fantastic qualities and talent that she possesses. Fans are really loving the new album and can’t wait to see what she does next.
