OH Girls Soccer Continues to Dominate

The Olympic Heights girls soccer team, which opened the week as the Palm Beach Post’s ninth ranked team in the county, notched its eighth win of the season by downing Dillard 8-0 on Wednesday, Nov. 18 behind a strong performance by key seniors with defenders leading the way.

Senior defender Vanessa Rivera scored three goals, senior defender Michelle Pinto scored a goal and had two assists, and senior forward Jamerri Cappello had one goal and three assists. Makayla Comstock, Haley Jacobowitz, and Gigi Ulaszek each scored a goal to improve the team’s season record to 8-1-2.

The shutout was goalkeeper Maddy Miller’s ninth of the season. Miller was named the Post’s female athlete of the week last week. Miller scored her first high school goal and added an assist against Boynton Beach on Friday, Nov. 13.

The girls’ junior varsity team also posted a pretty good week with a 1-0 win over Boca High, a 2-0 win over Atlantic, and a well-played 2-1 loss to Spanish River. Sara Pinheiro did all the scoring in all three of the games. Goalkeeper Victoria Barreto came up with two huge saves late in the game to preserve the victory over the Bobcats and made 10 saves in the loss to the Sharks.
