OH Social Studies Teacher Michael Klein Passes Away
Long time Olympic Heights social studies teacher Mr. Michael Klein passed away on Monday afternoon, June 27, after a prolonged bout with cancer. A much loved and respected faculty member, Klein remained resilient to the end in his ongoing fight, which at one point he appeared to be winning. Klein began teaching at OH in 2003. In 2015, he was awarded the Gutterman Family Holocaust Educator Award, given by the Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education at Florida Atlantic University. The entire Olympic Heights community is saddened by his passing.
Funeral services will be held at Eden Funeral Services at 2450 West Sample Road in Pompano Beach on Wednesday, June 29, at 11:00am.

It is shocking and saddening to hear this news. I truly adored Mr. Klein, as he has influenced me and many others to pursue psychology. He was a great friend I loved discussing historical events with and sharing the stories of my trip to Poland and such. I send all my condolences to his family and the rest of the grieving community. The battle he fought may have been lost but God and Heaven is the real winner, not cancer, and on Monday God won themself an Angel and an Amazing man. Rest in Peace Mr. Klein, you will always be loved and remembered long after your passing.

Such an amazing man. He cared so deeply about each student, he would go above and beyond and he was there even if you just needed a safe space to talk. He furthered our minds and heart and brought together people who I never imagined would be able to get along. He taught us more than just psychology he helped us in a period of our life that we are trying to find ourselves. He will be missed more than anyone can imagine. I hope his family finds some peace in knowing just how loved he was by every student he had.

Mr.Klein was one of the best teachers in the school. I remember when i first met him i told him “Im a holocaust nerd.” And we both laughed, the throughout the semester i learned a lot in his class. The most tremendous was his mother though, who was a holocaust survivor. Thanks for being a wonderful teacher Mr.Klein

While saddened by his loss, I am sure I speak for many in saying how privileged I was to be able to work with such a dedicated professional educator. His personal commitment to the teaching and students of OH was a tribute to his depth of love and caring. The community has also lost a strong voice and proponent for tolerance, as witnessed by his efforts to educate students in the Holocaust. You will be truly missed as a teacher, colleague , and friend.

This man affected and impacted more lives than I am sure he ever realized. I thought about him a few days prior to his passing as I was having a discussion about history with new comrades in my new town. I had a passing thought that I should go visit him at OH the next time I was in Florida. It was as if the foreshadowing was yelling at me.
He was an awesome human. And I, along with so many others, am so grateful I had the honor of being taught by him. Thank you, Mr. Klein. Sleep tight.

I can’t believe this happened. He fought so strong for so long in and out of school. He was my favorite teacher, who had brought me to want to further learn about psychology. He taught me things I never knew, with humor to top it off. Rest in peace to a great man who had left an amazing impression to everyone he met.

I can’t believe I never heard of this sooner. I am truly saddened. As of today, I cannot think of a teacher more deserving of appraisal. A teacher whose wisdom, devotion, and compassion supersedes all others. I give my condolences to his family, and pray their hearts will be uplifted from the sorrow of his death. Mr. Klein, I speak for many others and myself in saying thank you for everything you’ve taught us. We will represent your character and determination everyday of our lives to preserve your teachings and consolation; a legacy that will never be forgotten.
R.I.P Mr. Klein
