American singer Billie Eilish announced that she’s dropping a brand new album on July 30th. Along with the album, titled Happier Than Ever, Eilish revealed that she has changed her style from the iconic When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? era. 

Eilish’s music has exploded in the last few years with hits such as “Bad Guy” and “Therefore I Am.” Her signature clothing style and hair have also helped to set her apart from other artists and show off her uniqueness. 

One of her most recent and most memorable looks was her bright, neon green hair which faded into black. She started wearing her hair that way back in 2019 and kept it up until March of this year, when she revealed the start of a new era for her. 

Eilish first exposed her new blonde hair on Instagram in a post that received over 20 million likes. The internet went crazy over her new look and got fans super excited for Billie’s next big projects. 

“The 19-year-old singer shared during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday (May 11) that thanks to one fan’s creativity, the seven-time Grammy winner decided to transform her green and black locks to platinum blonde,” Anna Chan of  Billboard Magazine wrote.

“I’ve been wanting blonde for a while. I don’t know what came over me,” Eilish said of  the drastic color change. “I saw a fan edit when I had green hair, and it was like, me just with whatever hair color I had, and they just edited blonde hair on me, and I was like, ‘Ahhh! It’s so sick I want it!'”    

Along with the new hair, Eilish began dressing in more neutral and light colors unlike her previous style, which included mainly dark and neon colors such as red and green. 

Since Eilish’s style transformation and the reveal of her new album, she has been releasing new songs which will also be featured on the album. She has released the songs “Your Power” and “Lost Cause” as well as two separate music videos for both of them.   

The music video for “Your Power” features a simple yet powerful concept. It shows Eilish sitting alone on a mountain located in a desert, while a large snake wraps itself around her. The snake is meant to symbolize the abuse of power, as mentioned in the lyrics of the song. 

The music video for Eilish’s latest song, “Lost Cause” is unlike any she has made before. The song and music video dropped on June 2, and was both shocking and exciting for many fans. 

“The self-directed music video for ‘Lost Cause’ finds Billie and a group of her girls lounging around the house, throwing darts and playing Twister,” Brenton Blanchet of Complex Magazine wrote. “Billie slides over some breezy instrumentation as her and her posse seem to be having a blast, breaking out into group choreo and spraying around silly string as she sings of a jobless man who couldn’t even bring her flowers.”   

All in all, Eilish’s new style and music are being met positively and has fans ready for her new album. Many are excited to see her perform and go on tour in this new era.
