Billie Eilish’s new album, Happier Than Ever, has been supported by several new music videos and a concert film on Disney+. A world tour to support the album will kick off in 2022.

Billie Eilish’s long-awaited album Happier Than Ever is finally here. The cover art of the album, as well as the songs on the album, showcase a different side of Eilish and her millions of fans are loving it.

Happier Than Ever features a mixture of intense, fast-paced songs, as well as some softer ones too. Olympic Heights junior Dylan Yevich said that Happier Than Ever “blends the perfect mix of lofi and modern punk pop.”

Eleanor Schifino, writer for The Dartmouth Newspaper explains the album as “a melodic retelling of Billie Eilish’s hardships following the mass success of her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? The album maintains its roots in eclectic pop while bringing an unfamiliar simplicity to Eilish’s discography.”

“The empathetic record’s jazz style explains Eilish’s perturbed view from the top as she unburdens her heavy shoulders with brutal honesty,” Schifino continues. “Shrouded in a haunting darkness, the alluring view into Eilish’s complex psyche brings an unseen depth and power to her music as she explores a version of herself which is both more intimate and genuine.”

Songs such as “Oxytocin” and “OverHeated” show off a similar vibe to some of her previous songs such as “COPYCAT” or “Bad Guy” from When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? The songs “Getting Older” and “Billie Bossa Nova,” as well as “Halley’s Comet” and “My Future,” give a more gentle and light approach.

OH junior Olivia Baum thinks the album “showed her range,” and says her favorite songs from the album are “Happier Than Ever” and “Halley’s Comet.”

Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles is Eilish’s concert film that debuted on Disney+, Friday, Sept. 3. In the film, the audience sees Eilish performing her brand new songs live.

Eilish also already has planned a tour for the album called “Happier Than Ever, The World Tour.” The tour is set to begin in 2022, and already has many sold-out shows. Other stars such as Willow, Girl In Red, Arlo Parks, Jessie Reyez, Jungle, and Duckwrth are set to join her on the tour for several different shows.

Additionally, Eilish has released several music videos for the album. The music video for the song “NDA” showed Eilish walking down an empty street which by the end of the video was filled with fast cars driving around her. The music video for “Your Power” showed Eilish sitting on top of a cliff with a snake wrapped around her neck and shoulders. The music video for “Lost Cause” took a different approach, showing Eilish having fun, dancing, and partying with a group of her friends.

All in all, Happier Than Ever proves itself to be a successful second album for Eilish and shows her ability to do different genres and styles of music. The album has already tracked a huge amount of success and with award shows coming up, critics and fans believe she will take home several new awards for her work.
