Hollywood’s “Four Chrises” cause confusion and swooning
Many Hollywood actors share the same first or last name such as Tom Holland and Tom Hiddleston or Denzel Washington and Kerry Washington. One of the most famous bunch being the “Hollywood Chrises.” This group consists of Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pine, and Chris Pratt. Most people have heard of at least one or two of these Hollywood stars.
Three of these actors are known for their work in the Marvel comic book movies, the other (Pine) for his role in the Wonder Woman films, DC comic book movies. Evans is known for his role as the original Johnny Storm, though his most recent role in the Marvel franchise was actually as Captain America.
Hemsworth plays the iconic role of Thor and Pratt is the lead in the up and coming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Pine has also been in some iconic movies, from the second Princess Diaries to the famous Don’t Worry Darling. Pine will also be appearing in the new Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Although each of these actors has been in the limelight and award winning movies more than once, not everyone knows who they are. The actors may share the same name, but their demographics can be quite different.
Olympic Heights junior Alexsandra Tevino, believes Hemsworth is most popular for his role as Thor. In fact another OH junior, Aiden Crain says, “Chris Hemsworth is most popular because he is iconic.” Hemsworth seems to be known through a larger age group, as many older women recognize him as a popular actor as well.
Contrary to this, Pratt has been more and more popular lately. He is famous for his role in the Jurassic Park franchise and his role as the lead in Marvel’s Guardians. He will also be voicing Mario in the upcoming animated The Super Mario Bros. Movie alongside other famous actors such as Jack Black and Seth Rogan.
Although his career in Marvel has been retired, unlike Hemsworth and Pratt, Evans played one of the most important roles in the franchise. Evans played among Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. as the original three or “marvel trinity.” Evans played the so-called “first Avenger” Captain America. Before that he played Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four. He’s also played a role in Knives Out and Disney’s Lightyear.
“He’s my favorite because he is a great actor,” Crain comments. While Evans’ popularity has been on hold since he isn’t currently filming new projects, he is still a widely known actor compared to his Chris counterparts.
The least famous of the four, at least to younger generations, seems to be Chris Pine. Although he will be starring in the new Dungeons & Dragons movie this year, that film has not gained much pre-release publicity. In addition to his role in the Wonder Woman films, Pine has played a supporting role in both Wonder Woman films and even the antagonist in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling with Harry Styles and Florence Pugh.
Pine grew in popularity for a short time for his budding friendship with Pugh. At a red carpet event showing of Don’t Worry Darling, photos were taken of Pine using a disposable camera to take fun pictures of Pugh on the carpet. Pine was also caught up in a rumor with co-star Styles. Rumors spread that Styles had supposedly spit on Pine at one of the film’s publicity events. Even though Pine’s marketing team was quick to deny this, the rumors took a while to die down.
Even though these four Chrises play fairly different roles and have a different demographic of fans, in the world of Hollywood they have been grouped together. Some fans have gone far enough to suggest that all four should star in a movie together.
