Olympic Heights Fall Kickoff: Spirit Week, Pep Rallies, and Fall Fun Unite the Lions
As Halloween approaches, we anxiously await the cooler temperatures—at least as cool as it gets in South Florida. Olympic Heights hosts many events and activities for students to unite, connect, compete, and celebrate as they settle into the new school year. Some highlights from early fall include Olympic Heights’ first spirit week and pep rally, held just after Labor Day, which ignited school spirit and launched fall sports into full swing! Here is everything you need to know about our Olympic Heights Fall Kickoff.
Club Rush: Offers Students Opportunities to Get Involved
One of the first events this fall season was Club Rush on August 30. This annual event is a recruitment fair where every student organization at Olympic Heights hosts a table to provide students an opportunity to meet club leaders as well as learn more about the clubs. Club Rush is a great way for all students, new and returning, to explore the diverse organizations ready for new members each year. “There is a place for everyone,” Lyla Newman, Olympic Heights senior, shared. “I signed up for five new clubs that I didn’t know existed, and I have been here for four years!” Just when you think you know everything about Olympic Heights, there is always more being offered and new ways to get involved.Â
Spirit Week and Homecoming: A Celebration of School Pride and Tradition
Following Club Rush, Olympic Heights held its homecoming spirit week sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA). The week was filled with several ways to promote school spirit and fun activities. Olympic Heights kicked off its first pep rally of the year, hosted by Mr. OH Jacob Starr and Ms. OH Bayla Hirsch, with school spirit on full display, proudly radiating in black and gold. “I loved seeing all of the school spirit at our first pep rally!” Starr exclaimed. “It was a great way to kick off our new year.” The pep rally featured games, cheers, and trending sing-alongs that kept everyone engaged. Following the pep rally, Olympic Heights held its homecoming football game versus John I. Leonard High School, where school spirit was flaunted in a USA theme.
On Friday, September 6, Olympic Heights hosted its Olympic-themed homecoming dance in the gymnasium. Jayda Frenchman, Olympic Heights senior, dove into details about some of the behind the scenes work. “SGA puts in countless hours, planning, and teamwork when it comes to homecoming,” Frenchman explained. “This year especially, I feel that all of SGA’s hard work really paid off and was really awesome to see.” The gym was completely transformed into an incredible space for homecoming. With the Olympic-themed decorations, it really seemed like you were stepping into the Olympic Village.
As the fall season continues and high school activities kick into full swing and the combination of fall sports, new clubs, spirited pep rallies, and homecoming festivities, Olympic Heights has set the perfect tone for a spirited rest of the school year. Students, staff, and athletes all work together to showcase their school spirit and Boca pride. Whether it is in the stands or on the football field, this fall has proven to be full of excitement and enthusiasm, and it is clear the best is yet to come from Olympic Heights the remainder of the year.

Good use of asyndeton. Chronological order helps show readers how everything is played out, as a non OH student. Very good explanation of each topic.

The level of school spirit at Olympic Heights this fall was amazing! It’s obvious from the homecoming dance and pep rallies that students are all about encouraging one another and expressing pride in their school. SGA cares about making the year enjoyable for everyone, as indicated by the amount of effort they put into organizing these events. It unites the entire school, similar to a team effort!

I joined three clubs this year at Club Rush and I wish I knew more about it when I first came to this school. I think Olympic is so good at showing our shool spirit and what our school stands for.

I’ll be there! a little scared how much pride will be thrown around as with full volume airpods simply takes away the sound, not the vibrations. nevertheless these events are still interesting.
