By virtue of their third place finish at the District 20-3A Championship Tournament, the Olympic Heights boys golf team has earned a berth in the Region 7-3A Championship Tournament to played at Jacaranda Country Club in Plantation, Fla., on Monday, Oct. 23.

Although the team has consistently sent individual players to the regional tournament over the years, this is the first time in memory that the OH squad has qualified as a team. The team score of 306 for the 18-hole tournament played at Park Ridge Golf Course in Lantana on Oct. 17, is also believed to be a school record.

The top four scorers for OH were  Justin Cao with an even-par 72, Brooks Lamb with a three-over par 75, Matthew Hicks with a five-over 77, and Christian Ayala with a 10-over 82.  Oliver Kiely had a 14-over 86, but only the top four scores are counted for the team score. The same five golfers will represent OH at the regional tournament with an eye on a trip to the state championship.

On the girls’ side, Jordyn Huberman carded an 84 at the girls district tournament held at Delray Beach Golf Club to advance as an individual player at the regional tournament to be held at Okeeheelee Golf Course on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
